Biography
Michael Farrell, M.D., M.S. is a clinical fellow in surgery critical care/trauma and emergency surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Farrell completed his general surgery residency at Christiana Care Health System in Newark, DE in 2019. He graduated in 2014 with his Medical Degree and in 2009 with a Master of Biomedical Science from The Commonwealth Medical College (now the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine). He previously graduated cum laude from Gettysburg College in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology.
Dr. Farrell has both clinical and research interests in trauma resuscitation and trauma/emergency systems. He has received multiple research awards including first place in the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Committee on Trauma Region III clinical research competition. He received the Delaware ACS chapter clinical research award multiple times during his residency. He was also a research gold medal finalist at the Southeastern Surgical Congress.
Dr. Farrell has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals. He has presented at both national and international conferences including but not limited to the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the World Union of Wound Healing Societies, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the Southeast Surgical Congress.
